SEGi University launched its first R&D Blueprint (2016 – 2020) focusing on three main phases in 2015, allowing SEGi to drive successful research and innovation strategies with an impactful outcome for the community. A clear theme that runs through this blueprint is the need for all components of the university system to work seamlessly together. In moving forward, SEGi will internalise its research capability through effective collaboration with the public, university, business sectors and across national boundaries, mainly focusing on preparing SEGi academics and students for Industry 4.0. To add credibility to its research capabilities, SEGi was recently awarded 3 Stars in the 2020 Malaysia Research Assessment (MyRA). 

SEGi emerged in the top 54% of the 2020 QS World University Rankings: Asia and obtained the highest 5 Star rating in the categories of Teaching, Facilities, Social Responsibility, and Inclusiveness. It also received 4 Stars in the category of Employability sealing in the overall quality of its education. Previously, SEGi was also awarded 5 Stars in the above categories in the 2016 QS audit. This makes SEGi the first university to receive such strong recognition for prioritising society’s needs in Malaysia.
