  • Description
    Our forte has always been in the highly experienced line-up of academic and clinical staff teaching on the programme. The availability of excellent laboratories and clinical facilities add to the strength of the optometry programme at SEGi. The programme also draws on the expertise of adjunct lecturers comprising Biomedical scientists, Medical Practitioners, Ophthalmic Surgeons, and Practising Optometrists. Clinical training of students is carried out both at the internal clinics on campus, as well as at external sites ranging from private Optometric practices, Refractive Surgery Centres, private Ophthalmologic clinics, and Hospital Eye departments.

Entry Requirements

  • SPM/STPM

    Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent qualification with 3 credit including 2 of the following subjects: Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics and pass in English Language subject; AND Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) with a CGPA 2.50 in Science stream;

  • A-level

    Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent qualification with 3 credit including 2 of the following subjects: Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics and pass in English Language subject; AND A-Level in Science Streamwith a CGPA 2.50 including 3 Mathematics or Science subjects;

  • UEC

    Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent qualification with 3 credit including 2 of the following subjects: Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics and pass in English Language subject; AND Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with CGPA 2.50 or B5 in 3 Science subjects and B6 in 2 other subjects;

  • Matriculation/Foundation

    1. Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent qualification with 3 credit including 2 of the following subjects: Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics and pass in English Language subject; AND 2. Foundation in Science Health/ Biological Science with a CGPA 2.50 including 3 (three)Science or Mathematics subjects; OR 3. Matriculation in Science Stream with CGPA 2.5; OR 4. Australian Matriculation with average score of 14 (60% ATAR/TER) including 3 Science or Mathematic subjects; OR 5. Foundation in Science with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; OR 6. South Australian Matriculation (SAM) with an average of 14 (60% ATAR/TER) including 3 Science or Mathematics subject; OR 7. Canadian Pre-University (CPU) with a CGPA 2.50 or 60% including 3 Science or Mathematics subject; OR 8. Canadian International Matriculation Program (CIMP) with average score of 14 including 3 Science or Mathematics subjects, or an average score of 65%; OR 9. AUSMAT (Australian Matriculation) with an average score of 14 (60% ATAR/TER) including 3 Science or Mathematics subjects; OR 10. Monash University Foundation Pre-University Program (MUFY) with an aggregate of 60% (ATAR/TER) including 3 Science or Mathematics subjects;

  • Other

    1. Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or equivalent qualification with 3 credit including 2 of the following subjects: Biology, Physics, Chemistry or Mathematics and pass in English Language subject; AND 2. International Baccalaureate with average score of 30 points; OR 3. Diploma in the field of Science with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; OR 4. Diploma in Ophthalmic Dispensing or Ophthalmic Technology or Opticianry with a minimum of CGPA 2.50; OR 5. Ontario Secondary School Diploma with average score of 65% in 3 Science or Mathematics subjects; OR 6. Indian Pre-University/HSC/SSC with an aggregate of 60% including 3 Science or Mathematics subjects; OR 7. New South Wales Higher School Certificate Programme, HSC(UNSW) with an average score of 14 (60% ATAR/TER) including 3 Science or Mathematics subjects; OR 8. SACE (South Australian Certificate of Education) with an average score of 14 (60% ATAR/TER) including 3 Science or Mathematics subjects; OR 9. Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) minimum TER 65 or ATAR 65 including 3 Science or Mathematics subjects; OR 10. Any equivalent qualification.
